I had similar issues with V5 a while ago (like 5-6 months ago).. that is why I am on v4 since then but sadly it seems the issues with alerts haven't been solved.
I am testing v5 again but it is still not as stable as v4 that would justify making yet another purchase for v5

I have enable "Add last image to alert lists " in watchdog of my camera:
