Start as service fails

Post by Judman13 »

Hey,

I am running 5.4.7.11 (the latest stable update). I kept getting log items about updating the service. I went into the startup settings, uncheck the windows service option, and restarted BlueIris. Then I did the reverse and entered my user account and password for my windows account. I restarted BlueIris again and it failed to start the service and closed. When I restarted again the Start as service option was unchecked. Going through the process of checking starting as a service and entering user account and password ended up with the same result of BlueIris not starting.

I ended up going into Windows Services and finding the installed BlueIris service and changing the logon type from "This account:" to "Local System account". This allowed the service to start and seemed to be running okay.

I don't know what the difference is between the old service and the new service, but it isn't working with a user name and password for me.

As I understand it... the only two events that start or stop BI service is reboot of the computer or using the services.msc. Closing and reopening the BI console does not change the state of BI services. The service must be stopped/started/restarted. You can also use the command prompt (or PS) to start or stop the service.

Net stop blueiris
Net start blueiris

Provided you're logged into windows with an account that has administrator level permissions.

Run as a service in BI just basically says "launch service when Windows starts"
