I'm an amateur user. I set up BlueIris a few years ago. At one time I had email alerts working but not SMS. Then a year or more ago the email alerts stopped. I have not bothered to try to fix it until now. I believe the problem was I changed routers and the new router was blocking BlueIris.
Anyway, I have made the changes to the router that I think are correct. Problem now is on the email configuration in BlueIris, when I hit the test button, I get an error message: Too many bad auth attempts. How do I get past this error message? I thought after a period of time it would reset. I waited a day and then a week. I still get the same error message.
Also, for the email login name in BlueIris do I use name@yahoo.com or just name?

Re: Problem getting sms and email alerts set up
Maybe this will bring a little clarity. SMS messages are delivered by sending an email from the server you set up to your phone number @ cell phone carrier.
First, set up your email server. Global settings (gear in upper left) --> Email Servers tab:
After test is successful, Camera settings --> Alerts tab --> On Alert --> Add Action --> SMS (make sure "enabled" is checked) Configure SMS The Sent folder of your email account will show messages sent to your phone.
