Does the video attachment for alerts work?

Post by sdennis »

Hello everyone. I am using blue iris (5.5.4.1 x 64 (12/15/2021)) and getting alerts via email. I have checked the box to attach a video, but it is never attached. Is this feature working? Are there other settings I need to adjust?

Thank you.

I’ve never tried it but won’t your main issue be the max size of an attachment that your email provider allows, for some it can be as low as 10Mb?

I had the same thought as you TimG - it's not documented anywhere which is frustrating. That said outside of special circumstances, I'm not sure why one would want to send a video via email. The "use case" is unclear to me.

It looks like there are ways to make the file smaller and I suspect that if the clip was short enough then it could get past the clip size for email. Is there a way I can trouble shoot what is happening (clip too big, BI not attaching, need to set other settings?) Is there an official support request I could send to ask about it? It would be nice if it were better documented.

Yeah, email support. Open global settings, and hit the request support button. When you choose email support it'll copy all of your information into the clipboard and you past it into the email. That way it gets past their spam filers and verifies your support status. I'm interested in what you find out.
