Reolink RLC-511W can't reconnect

Post by dkeelan »

I'm running into an odd problem where BI5 will lose connection with one of my 3 reolink wireless cameras. It doesn't happen often, nor does it happen to one particular camera. I can log into and access the camera just fine via my browser but the only way to get BI5 to see it again is to reboot the camera. Then it will show up just fine - until it doesn't.
I have 2 other cameras - an old foscam f19900P and an FTD FD7903W and it never happens to them.
I'm not terribly familiar with BI5 so everything is set up as default but if there is a setting I'm missing or something else, I'd appreciate the help

Thanks in advance

I fought with an issue just like this for six months. Long and short, the camera kept dropping signal. Here's how I found out - I first looked at the BI Status log - no signal. Then I looked at the log of the camera itself and found it was losing signal. Then I tried connecting to different SSID's on my network (5 GHz, 2.4, etc.)... the signal was crap. In the end, I added an access point and connected via Ethernet to the AP, and it never happened again.

So in your shoes, I would try to prove that my WiFi connection wasn't the issue. Hard wire one of the offending cams and watch the logs.

I'm not sure it's the signal - both the camera and the router indicate the signal strength is close to 100% (I have a satellite about 10 ft away). I don't see any function on the camera itself to keep logs but I'll keep an eye on the BI logs to see if it's attempting to reconnect when the signal is lost
