Unexpected shutdown´s - 5.5.5.7 / 5.5.5.8

Post by Expello »

Hi together,

I wanted to manage my camera network with Blue Iris.
I'm really excited about the software...I've rarely seen anything so detailed. Just great.

I use the trial version 5.5.5.7 and now 5.5.5.8 on Windows 10 Pro. However, I am unfortunately annoyed by crashes that are not understandable for me, unfortunately, the log is not really meaningful. At least one to five times a day it comes to an unexpected shutdown. In the same time nothing special happens under Windows, the event log of Windows says nothing about the crash of Blue Iris.

I have only connected two cameras via RTSP and have not enabled hardware GPU transcoding. I also did not enable any triggers....but the crashes persist. The CPU utilization is between 10% and 15%. RAM usage is at 500MB (16GB are available).

Since I was going to buy the software now, I am hoping for a solution to the crashes.
The server is otherwise running fine without any problems.

Code: Select all

2 19.02.2022 21:33:34.601	App Restarted after unexpected shutdown (5.5.5.7/1500/240)
0 19.02.2022 21:33:34.826	Server Started on port 81

0 21.02.2022 21:20:03.740	App Graphics hardware vendorID 1414
2 21.02.2022 21:20:06.262	App Restarted after unexpected shutdown (5.5.5.8/1500/240)
0 21.02.2022 21:20:06.456	Server Started on port 81
See appendix for complete log.

Windows 10 Pro (20H2)
16GB RAM
i3 8100

Thanks a lot!

EDIT:

Friendly heads up, there are no BI Support folks in this forum - just users. I mention that in case you were thinking someone who knew what they were talking about would review your log. That said, this thread may be relevant -> Esc key crashes BI in Timeline Export... v5.5.5.7 - fixed in 5.5.5.9

Are you sure hardware acceleration is disabled, you might need to do in 2 places, in the general settings tab and then for each camera if you’ve changed the cam setting to something other than default.

Short feedback I am back on 5.5.4.5 ... now the first day has passed without crashes, GPU acceleration is also on.

I had overlooked this point first "Install latest critical or highly-stable update". I'm curious, but there seems to be no more crashes. Does this mean then that all newer versions better be marked as BETA!

It's been suggested that beta is considered anything not listed as "highly stable". (tongue in cheek)
