low fps on UI3 with some Reolink cameras

Post by Wired Life »

Hello,
i'm using version 5.7.8.2 and i see with some Reolink cameras i only got around 15 fps in UI3.
The cameras are set to 25 fps and BI is getting the full 25 fps as i see in the status window.
RLC-811A and RLC-842A
All other cameras performing right with the fps chosen on the camera interface.
Is there a way to fix that?

My System (i7-8700 CPU) is strong enough to handle that, i'm running @ 10% cpu.

Group or individual? Group has a max FPS setting. Don't have Reolink so can't comment on that.

It's not likely just a Reolink issue as many folks would like to fall back on as the problem. If you have them working at all in UI3 you're ahead of the game. Don't be tempted to start messing with their settings just to satisfy an inconsistency in their UI3 streams. Be happy they're working.

Different cameras will be affected differently and some only minimally depending on what they are. Their performance quality can also vary depending on the mode(s) being used in UI3 at any given time.

I ran across this thread recently that discusses the topic and may or may not apply to more recent versions. The short version is UI3 streams are re-encoded to provide the best performance with what is anticipated to be less than optimal bandwidth conditions. Various adjustment capabilities exist including a completely non-intuitive approach in the next to last post below which seems to have merit.

There may be simpler options with later BI versions..., or they may have disappeared as a 'fix' for another 'improvement' as can occasionally be the case with any 'latest stable release'.

(Cough..., Cough..., Cough) LOL
