Day/Night Profile

Post by chain »

is there a way to create a schedule for day profile that set the camera at 1/500 with different condition like brightness/ contrast and night time to change the camera to 1/60 and adjust the brightness and contrast ?

Very easy. Clone the camera. Set each one (main and clone) up for the desired conditions. Individually schedule them accordingly in the camera scheduler, not the global scheduler. No additional profile required, just a basic on/off condition for each camera to replace the other at the desired times.

You can’t set properties within the cam from BI itself can you? Unless you find an API or http call that you can make which I suppose you could maybe trigger with a profile?

Excellent point!

I obviously experienced a bit of tunnelvision just focusing on the scheduling without considering the camera configuration aspect itself.

Apologies for the glaring oversight and thanks for the whack upside the head!

Now if a XVR were involved, or even with the firmware of many cameras with such adjustments, there are also scheduling features onboard that could essentially facilitate what the OP is looking for if properly integrated with Blue Iris.

The other option would be an additional identical camera using the BI approach I originally suggested to turn one off and turn the other one on.

In my Dahua cams you can have a day and night profile. I set things like the shutter speed, gain, brightness, contrast and sharpness differently between day and night. The switch is done by the cam based upon light so doesn’t occur at an exact time.

Use this procedure, it works 100% fine natively inside blue iris, no need to clone cameras

Provided the camera in question is a Dahua and/or has the native capability.

That's a pretty fascinating thread from start to finish..., all seven years worth and still going.

Didn't read it all by any means, but would you happen to know if the intial and most basic approach will also work with Amcrest firmware since it's essentially derived from Dahua? Would save me a lot of reading if you happen to. LOL

Looks like most of the Dahua webUI profile configuration features mentioned in the thread are the same as one of my Amcrest cams. I'd give it a spin if I knew it had a chance to actually work.

from my understanding, amcrest is just a brand manufactured by dahua, firmware and everything else is all dahua in the end. Check this https://ipvm.com/reports/dahua-oem

Thanks for the input.

The link seemed to require IPVM membership to view their latest version of the list and associated information, but thanks anyway.

While most of the Amcrest hardware is OEM Dahua, not all Amcrest products use Dahua HWIDs or firmware. Many do, but you can't just re-flash Amcrest products with Dahua firmware like some would suggest..., nor would you necessarily want to for any number of reasons with certain products. On the other hand, when you can re-flash Amcrest hardware to Dahua firmware, the result is usually a major feature upgrade and certainly worth doing in most cases..., like my Amcrest NV4108-HS NVR for example. A whole new device with the Dahua firmware including IVS camera feature recognition.

Anyway, was just curious if you were aware of reference to Amcrest camera compatibility with the customized BI day/night scheduling being discussed in the IPCT thread. I'll either give the thread a complete read or just give the method a spin with one of my Amcrest cams and see what happens -- when/if I can find the time to do either one.
