How do you use face detection?

Post by BobRoss »

I'm trying to figure out the workflow here...

Here is my setup:
  • B.I.
  • Video doorbell
  • Code project A.I. face detection running
  • Home Assistant

1. What does "saving unrecognized faces to new folder" do for what reason?
2. What does "Manage Known AI faces to a folder" do and how do I use this?
3, How do I make it so when it recognizes a face (or does not) a home assistant automation triggers?

Ballistically, how do we use this stuff in practice? It's confusing.

Thanks for any help!

I found it to be of little use as it identified my neighbour who has a beard as myself with a clean shaven face. Maybe it needs a particular camera, but the images it saved were of such a low resolution it wasn't usable. Maybe the documentation will catch up one day  I had identified master images as myself and my wife, but it's all turned OFF at the moment.

As for Home Assistant, you would use MQTT commands from BI5. That part works well for other things like drive lights that only turn on at night if CPAI Person is detected. For face detection I was envisaging things like Alexa announcing "Good news ! Tim is home", but it just wasn't good enough at identification.

If you do get this working, please do a write up here. We are all learning :D

Edit: Thought of the day. Clone the camera and force main stream only. Hmm...
