How to adjust sensitivity for motion detection

Post by okrobie »

I'm having a situation here where very minor motions such as a light breeze blowing tree limbs is causing an alert.

I'm sure that Blue Iris has such an adjustment, but I just can't find it. Thanks, Jim

It's the age old story. You make it sensitive enough for your needs, then it triggers as a cloud passes overhead, so you look for reset mechanisms. They do exist in BI5 and it is hard work and different in every case.
This is why we are trying out AI. It's still in Beta as far as I am concerned and is not simple to set up and use. It also needs serios cpu horsepower. Trigger ONLY if person/car detected.
Due to you being at the start of the learning curve, I suggest you don't try AI yet. You can set up trigger zones which avoid the tree, and for those clouds there is a "reset if more than x% of the image changes" which you can set to maybe 85% to catch lighting changes.
BI5 is configurable. You can tweak everything. That is its power. That however makes it complicated ! One change at a time. Maybe export settings so you don't lose them too.

Thanks TimG, I found the control tab. It's under "Trigger" Under motion sensor configure.

BTW, my sirname is Robson and my family is from County Durham. I'm hoping that I'm related to the famous football coach Robby Robson.:)

North indeed. It's almost Scotland. In fact, my wife says that the Robsons are decended from the Gunn clan.
