Beta PTZ auto tracking

Post by TimG »

I spotted this in the new builds of BI5, and this morning had time to try it out. It didn't go well for me, but it is showing promise

I tried it with a 2MP Dahua PTZ mini dome fitted under the eaves of the front of my two storey house. As somebody walked down the road - across the camera view - it moved to centre in on them, and zoomed in. Result. But then it decided to tilt downwards towards my house and lost the person. It carried on going downwards until it pointed vertically downwards (where it stayed) and then just rotated from 'pan' end stop to end stop continuously. Turned off auto tracking for now !

Yes, I did inform Support

I also tried it today but then it traveled off and kept doing it until I turned off PTZ for the camera, reboot it and then turned PTZ back on in the settings.
It is something that I wished this had and want to see it move forward.
Interesting enough it moved back to the cameras starting point and just sat looking at a lizard.

Ken said that you must have a default position set in BI5. I have the default set in the camera itself to return it to the default position after being idle for ten minutes.
Work in progress ! Try it, but watch it like a hawk until the bugs are ironed out.
