Excessive Alerts

Post by cpeckat »

Is there a way to address this in settings? I'm getting this many daily if not more. I had 6000 yesterday. I've looked through the software and I can't seem to find anywhere where you can adjust Alert settings - be it by camera or globally.

If they were 6,000 genuine Alerts, why would you want to mask them, and which ones would you mask ?

You can of course reduce the sensitivity of each cameras motion detection settings to reduce Alerts, but then you might miss valid motion. Are you using CPAI ? That can reduce nuisance Alerts considerably by only triggering an Alert on wanted objects like "person". That has prevented spiders webs triggering my drive lights.

Can you explain a bit more on what you are trying to achieve ?

Of course!

I'm about 2 months into using Blue Iris as a replacement for a few different DVR/NVRs we were running simultaneously. The system is set up at the bar that I manage. From the time anyone arrives when we open at 6PM until 2AM when we close every single camera is throwing alerts one after the next after the next. I don't necessarily need the alerts since I have a pretty well-rounded security system installed alongside the Blue Iris Setup.

I guess long story short is I really don't have a need for the alerts at all. I mean - I know people are here from open to close (God willing) so I don't need to be reminded every few seconds that I have customers. Maybe if they could notify me when I DON'T have customers so I can yell at my bartenders. :)

So, what I'm deducing thus far is there isn't really an "alerts section" of the software. I essentially need to go into the settings on a per camera basis and reduce or eliminate motion sensitivity?

Hey - thank you for the response! I really appreciate it! Let know if there is anything more I should familiarize myself with.

You can switch off incrementing the notification count of the app by unchecking "Increment user new-alert counters" under tab Alerts of Camera Settings.

If you don't need the alerts, just turn them off completely, not sure what you are trying to do, perhaps just record everything and only look at if needed for some reason!

I don’t mind the system as is if I can just turn off the notifications for alerts. And yes. It records 24/7 because I’m more concerned with having video backup if something were to happen between patrons. If I have a bar full of people I don’t need to be notified that someone moved across the room. We have constantly moving lights that will trigger alerts no matter what the people themselves are doing. I’m just trying to eliminate the excessive notifications on my phone during these times.
