Thanks for your feedback. The camera is setup as per the recommendations in the YouTube video I linked in my first post here. I have made some site specific adjustments from there, but the camera "just works", which suits me. I can definitely recommend it for this use.
AI setup help for ALPR

Re: AI setup help for ALPR
Oh and just to add, the camera is looking down my lane focusing on 100 to 200 feet out. Seems the sweet spot for this camera and my setup. I have other cameras that give a more wide view to pick up on vehicle type and colour, people and animals etc. Hope that helps?
Re: AI setup help for ALPR
I'd rather use Plate Regocnizer instead of CodeProject's ALPR. Where CP's performance for me turned out to be a big disappointment, Plate Regocnizer;s results are phenomenal.
For object detection in BI I started using CodeProject for a short while but immediately saw better performance with DeepStack. CP saw our labrador for a bear - which I find a gross insult - and a worn out red/brown door for a fire hydrant, DeepStack didn't come with any of that nonsense.

That's interesting . I haven't used plate Reckonizer or deep stack but I guess models will improve over time. With CPai I do get some interesting suggestions on occasions for animals etc, but nothing is perfect. Using AI has massively reduced false alarms for me Vs" the old way" which ment on a windy night I just had constant alarms, or I would tune down sensitivity to a point where you could walk past a camera and not trigger it. It's all progress.
Re: AI setup help for ALPR
Because your footage is near perfect, you won't be disappointed, but try from a different angle, or from a bit greater distance and CodeProject fails, while Plate Recognizer gets results even from an angle where you can hardly see it yourself anymore:

Try disabling ORC optimization to see if that helps reading the full plate. I add that option to help read the US plates that have narrow fonts.jeyking wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2024 4:39 pm Because your footage is near perfect, you won't be disappointed, but try from a different angle, or from a bit greater distance and CodeProject fails, while Plate Recognizer gets results even from an angle where you can hardly see it yourself anymore:

Disabling OCR Optimization didn't help, but what did was disabling Auto Plate Rotation.
