Avigilon ENC-4P-H264 Four Port encoder

Post by andrew1957 »

I am evaluating BI as a replacement for some clients with small installation that are using the Avigilon ENC-4P-H264 four port encoder.
I have successfully tested and have working the Avigilon H4A and H5A cameras as a test, but am unsure of the settings to get the four port encoders working.

the encoders are factory reset, the default settings presented by BI for the encoder present the rainbow, then fail to Encloder: No Signal.
(I know the camera is sending NTSC video with my handheld test tool...)

I would greatly appreciate any tips on the proper settings for these encoders.

Thanks

BI5 is usually used with IP cameras rather than analog cameras, but I did have BI5 working with analog cameras with a Eurysys Picolo Pro 2 PCI card a few years ago. SD only though.

So the Avigilon box claims ONVIF compliance. What does BI5 do when you use Find/inspect with the IP address of the Avigilon box ? I would suggest using ONVIF Device Manager to find out what is available from the Avigilon box.

I note that this document has info for external video access:
Accessing the Live Video Stream. Live video stream can be viewed using one of the following methods:

l Web browser interface: http://<IP address>/
l Network video management software application (for example, the Avigilon Control Center software).
Note:
Depending on the manufacture date of your device, you will have one of the two options below when logging in the first time:
l Devices manufactured after January 1, 2020: these devices do not have a default username or password and will be in a factory default state. You must create a user with administrator privileges before the device is operational. For more information, see Initializing an Encoder Username and Password on page 9.
l Devices manufactured before January 1, 2020: login to the device using the default encoder username of admin and the default password of admin. It is recommended that you change the password after your first login.
Hopefully something there will get you up and running.
