LPR camera

Post by heffneil1 »

Hello,

I am using 2 LPR cameras that are very zoomed in on the license plate area of the view. I am using Motion sensor as the Trigger. I have several other options checked with min obj size of 186 and a min contrast of 27. Min duration is .4

What I am trying to do is really trigger on ZONE so if someone drives across the screen it would mark as an event.

I tried 2 zones but then created a Zone A, B and C and then I have Object Detection set with A-B, B-C
Also 60 pixels on sub-stream.

Something isn't configured here because its just not marking in my timeline. Im confident one of the above numbers isn't right. The car fills the screen quickly and goes by just as quick. If there are any suggestions I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Neil

Hi,

1. 0.4s seems to be a long time for a zoomed in ALPR camera. My wide angled camera is set to 0.3 but my ALPR camera is set to 0.1s.
2. Zones. Without knowing how your zones are set up, it's hard to tell. If A is full screen, then I would expect something like A,A-B,A-C
Also 60 pixels on sub-stream.
That one is to prevent a trigger unless something travels more than 60 pixels. I think of it as a relic from the pre-AI era when we spent our time minimising nuisance triggers. Try un-checking it to see if things improve. If you are using something like CPAI, then you can remove all the "prevent" or "reset" mechanisms. "Reset detector when object size exceeds" is one of them. Un-tick it. Let the AI decide what to do.

YMMV. It's all about finding out what works for you.

Thanks I have been playing with it. I can't find the sweet spot. At one point I was recording nothing - the next I am catching leaves blowing around. I did turn down the make. I thought I could JUST trigger on the zone passing and I am 99% sure that is right.

Just a thought.... A-B I believe is the equivalent to A-Z. Sounds like you want A>B and or B>A. From zone A crossing into B, and then possibly B crossing into A (A>B,B>A). At least that the way I understand it.

We don't know how the zones are set, so we can't assume anything. I do use zone "A" as the full screen, but what about the OP ?

The directions say A-B is both directions? I just want to catch things going from one box to the other. Not sure why this is complicated. I had a Hikvision NVR and I was able to draw a line and if it cross the line it would trigger. Seems like BI should be able to do that here simply.

I am way behind on paying attention here and just pop in once in a while. From my old knowledge there needs to be at least connected zones and preferably a square or two of overlap. That gap between middle and right could mess up and B-C crossings.

I did make the two touch - there was a space there but I fixed that. I don't know but are you sure they need to overlap?

No. One of the early tutorials I saw suggested that but I am not sure it was required.
