Confused about GPU assignments with Intel intergrated and NVidia card.

This has always confused me. Here is what I want to happen:

• Have my integrated Intel GPU just run my windows desktop and BI UI

• Only have my NVIDIA doing all the Code project AI.

Where I get confused is this:

• How do I identify what GPU is what number in Blue Iris?

• Does Selecting use "ANY" also include AI on my integrated Intel? I don't want that.

• Do I need to always specify a GPU number to only use NVIDIA?

Also, in case the DEV is reading - Is there a way you can pull the GPU ID from a string so we can see it in the sect GPU drop-down? This would take away all the mystery.

My rig only has the built in Intel and quite a while ago I disabled all hardware acceleration on all of my cams.

Think it was a post I either read here or on the other site and was somewhat surprised that disabling it had little to no impact on overall CPU usage and in some cases it can actually reduce it, no wonder why?

Thanks for the insight but this isn't really related to my original question? I'm talking about GPU's here.

The hardware acceleration I’m referring to is using the graphics card to offload some of the video processing.

Look in task manager, it will list your GPU's as Windows see them under performance tab, GPU0 GPU1. Win 11 right click on window icon on bottom of screen, choose task manager

I just ran across this issue with a new build, and have a related question.

From reading the documentation it was unclear if, for an NVIDIA card, if I should pick "DirectX VA2" or "NVidia NVDAC". The implication seemed to be that sometimes the former had access to better API, but no real guidance as to which to use for a specific card. I used the former, it shows up as "DX" on the camera status so appears to be working fine.

But the guidance here on which to use is weak. If it shows DX in the status, does that mean I chose well?

Incidentally under each camera I just select GPU = Any, and assume it figures out which GPU to use. Seems to work OK?
