Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
Use your imagination.

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
Under Blue Iris Setting; Storage; select each and check; New, Stored, Alerts, and any other you may have set up and see how much space you have allocated for each next to GB. Add those figures together and total should add up to < total space on hard drive. e.g. 300gb hdd, New folder = 100gb, Stored = 150gb, Alerts 10gb. This will get rid of that over allocated message.
Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
Looking at the allocation graphs is a good starting point. Note if you have "New" and "Stored" on the same drive you are wasting resources and IAmATeaf will admonish you

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
Hate to revive such an old thread, but the content is way too familiar. I've been dealing with storage problems on and off for a very long time. See attached.
I just tried rebuilding but no change. I've manually moved and deleted stuff, which fixes it but only for weeks.

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
Some attached screen captures of you storage settings and the storage graph from the Status page would be needed to provide any help
Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
I feel like such a noob, but I swear I attached images. Let's try this again.
I noticed my db/clips.dat is 6.7GB, but that's not the offender.
Though I have NEW's limit set to 18GB, the folder is currently 21.3.

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
18GB for "New" doesn't seem enough. I guess it depends how many cameras you have and how big the clip files are, but if you had ten cameras with "Combine or cut video each" all set to 4GB then you would exceed that 18GB with only the present files, never mind the previous files. I use a separate SSD for the BI5 database and storage folders and "New" being set to 710GB with nine cameras doesn't have any problems.

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
FWIW: I ***think*** the size of "New" has to be calculated to fit the presently recording BVR files (10 x 4GB in the example above) and then add a bit more for when it starts to write a second file for each camera and before the BI5 clean up process has managed to move the previous file. To be safe for my example above I would double it to 10 x 4GB x 2 = 80GB.
This is a guess based on what I have seen, and I can find nothing to corroborate it. Not even in the Help file
Let me know what you guys think. I'm still learning

Re: Constant Overallocated Storage
I totally agree that 18GB for New isn't enough, as it only held 2 days of data. I had room to increase to 23GB yesterday but with 10 cams, I need to reassess my storage situation. Obviously still have the error. But that still doesn't explain why it keeps exceeding my set limits.
