Lag/timeouts when accessing web interface ONLY on same network

Post by cuda1337 »

I have a strange issue and I'm not sure where to start.

We do a lot of remote viewing of the cameras using the web interface. They are kind of slow broadly, but what's strange is that when I'm on the web interface and connected to the same wifi network, if I tried to bring up a single camera in full screen view, the server times out and I can't bring it up. I can, typically, watch the feed of all cameras at once without too many issues.

Multiple people/computers have this same problem when on the network that the cameras are on. When people try to access the cameras from their home networks though, they don't have that issue.

I don't think it's a bandwith issue because we can pull up the web interface with all cameras at once and view them. I've also tried dropping the quality down to 144p on the web interface just to see if that helped, and it didn't. We also don't have any network lag for anything else we use the internet for, it's only with the cameras.

Try these tests:
1) Have another BI User that does not have the issue login with their loginID/password on the same desktop/laptop your experiencing the issue on.
2) Use a different desktop/laptop and log in with your loginID/password.

This will tell us if this is a Group or User issue.

Also, can you provide screenshots of the complete web interface of Live View for 'All cameras', and, 'single camera'?

I suppose it could be a user issue... we all use the same login. I never really even though to create individual logins.

We have tried multiple computers though, it's definitely not the computer.

Here is a screengrab of the web interface. Just tested it again this morning. Works 100% fine from my home network.

We did just try a new user. Same issue. They have a hard time even getting the site to load.

You've already tried multiple people/computers on the same network, and everything works well when connecting from outside your network (sry, missed that in your original post).
That eliminates a lot.

If bandwidth is not an issue, then could the additional load (cpu, memory, disk) of the UI3 be enough to cause the issue!

What happens if you disable all but 1 camera? Should be fine with 1 camera. Keep enabling until the issue occurs.
Also, minimizing the BI console can save quite a bit of cpu/gpu.

This is a good candidate for BI Support. Use the Email Support button, then paste that into the email.
Do not reply to your original email (to check if they received it, or for updates) unless you have received a reply from support. Otherwise, the support email will be moved to the bottom of the list, and it will take longer and appear they are not responding.
