BI ver: 5.9.9.30
OS ver: win11, arrgh!
recently configured BI as a service to start automatically due to Win11 reboots.
service starts with <a user> with admin rights.
now my android cell phone BI app cannot login to BI server/console. have tried on android BI app using qrcode images for "admin" and <a user> with same results, "unable to connect", "unable to reach server".
i have three users listed in BI
1). admin
2). local_system
3). <a user with admin rights>
should i switch service starting to "local system account" versus <a user>? or what ?
BI as service, now cell BI app can't access server
Re: BI as service, now cell BI app can't access server
Check BI setting 'Mobile Devices'. Make sure your pone is still activated.
Re: BI as service, now cell BI app can't access server
cell is still activated. i removed BI as a service, to test, sure enough the cell logged in and BI app worked fine. something about BI starting as a service is messing this up a bit. tomorrow i will try the other 2 accounts to start BI as a service just to see what happens.
thanks for reply
Re: BI as service, now cell BI app can't access server
How does your Android cell phone BI app " login to BI server/console" when BI is not running as a service? Is the cell phone on the same network as the BI computer? If the cell phone is using an Internet connection, how does it get to the BI computer? I use a VPN to get connectivity from mobile devices to my BI computer. It is possible to give the BI computer a public Internet address but that is considered less secure.
Is the BI service running properly? Can you access the BI service locally on the BI computer by running the BI client? In my case, I run the BI service under an account with admin privileges that I use for all Windows admin tasks. On the BI computer, I launch the BI code from a non-privileged account (which means I need to ask for admin privileges). I am then get a "Blue Iris User" prompt where the user is local_console and the password is blank. I cannot explain the rationale - it just works.

that info on android app is from the qrcode associated with username account on BI
i have only one win computer, win11. that runs BI. other machines are linux
Re: BI as service, now cell BI app can't access server
rebooted to BI service login as local_system. no pw. cell phone app logged in.
rebooted to BI service login as my win account, with pw. cell phone app logged in. currently using this.
rebooted to BI service login as administrator account, couldn't get it to work as it wouldn't accept a pw.
have no idea why it didn't work before with my user account. i'll take this win for now.
thanks for your replies and help.
