My Bule Iris 5 has been SHUTTING DOWN at 12AM Midnight

Post by pelermon »

It has happened at 11pm as well
I do not know whats happening. I have my computer on
Never Sleep
Updates Turned OFF "disabled" in Services on Windows10 - I do not see any updates
either the computer is rebooting fro some unknown reason
or Blue Iris is SHUTTING DOWN for some unknown reason.
I have to start the program.
Does anyone have any ideas?
ALSO - is there a way to have Blue Iris 5 START ITSELF AUTOMATICALLY in case computer reboots itself?

I think you need to watch it tonight to find out if the pc is rebooting or BI is turning off

I would also have a look at Windows events and the BI log to see if you can find the culprit.

I would assume that if you run BI as a service, it may start itself. Can anybody clarify ?

Enable the option 'Prompt before exiting when not running as a service' in BI's settings/Startup. This should stop it from exiting and leave the prompt on the screen, if it's not running as a service.

Check the BI log to see what's been happening at midnight. It will have an entry in it when it shuts down.
If you run BI as a service, nothing should close it. But then, nothing should be closing the BI pgm anyway.

Something is running at Midnight that is doing this...

Check your Scheduler to see what runs at midnight that may do this. NirSoft has an excellent utility 'TaskSchedulerView' that lists all the scheduler tasks. You'd be amazed at what runs. Click the 'NextRun' or 'LastRun' to sort by those fields.

Check your Startups to see what else runs that might effect BI. NirSoft has an excellent utility 'WhatInStartup' that checks all the locations for Startups.

Once you have an idea of what may be shutting down BI, disable them, and see if that resolves BI shutting down.
I wouldn't set the clock back, as doing that may mess up BI's timing & timeline.
