So I've been having a problem with Blue iris recently and trying to sort out what the cause might be.
A little bit of a history on the setup (On the latest version of BI5 BTW):
Right now I have 2 camera's connected, each camera has a Master feed that is being recorded 24/7 and a cloned feed that is only recording on motion detection, the idea is that once it's tweaked and setup to my liking I might record the lower res sub-stream 24/7 and only pull a recording of the high res stream on motion (But right now both are set for the high res stream).
The issue I just noticed today but appears to have happened in the past fairly frequently, The camera correctly detected motion at 4:30pm but I didn't see anything else recorded after that time so at first I thought that I needed to fiddle with the motion settings further but upon watching the stream I noticed something interesting, the entire clip is 21 minutes long and contains 5 minutes of motion at 4:30 then it jump to 5ish and has 3 minutes, jumps to 7ish and has 5 minutes, jumps to 9ish and has 5 more minutes and then jumps to 10ish and has 3 more minutes (I have the camera's providing the data/time overlay on the feed and the times provided match the expected environment (Sunny, dusk, night, etc)) so it picked up motion for approx 6 hours and put it in a single file, but when I watch the BI timeline it only sees the elapsed period as from 4:30 to 4:50ish. I can confirm that the server's date/time are set correctly and accurately ticking. This is the first time I noticed but looking back it's done this before in combining triggers into the one recording file. What could cause this?
Thanks
Blue Iris not keeping proper time? and question on Motion and Alerts
Re: Blue Iris not keeping proper time? and question on Motion and Alerts
A bit confusing, but I think I get the general idea.
When recording 'When triggered' and the 'Combine or cut video' is checked, then BI will record in a single file until the 'cut' time or size is reached. Uncheck the 'combine or cut' box. Each triggered recording will be a separate clip.
When recording 'Continuous', the 'Combine or cut' should be checked with 6 or 12 hours. Size can be large, like 25gig - doesn't matter since your cutting by time.

Re: Blue Iris not keeping proper time? and question on Motion and Alerts
The issue is still occurring despite trying to adjust many things I could think of.
I have a 6 minute clip that has 10-15 second clips of motion combined together covering 9am to 2pm.
Is there anything I can be missing that would not cause it to create it's own clip each time?

Re: Blue Iris not keeping proper time? and question on Motion and Alerts
Thanks Mike,
I've noticed something in that I have had it unchecked and then when I go back to the tab it's checked back off. Right now they all seem to be off and stay unchecked each time I go back to the settings so I'll monitor again.
For sure if you change tabs without hitting "ok" it resets the box to checked, going to see if maybe that was the cause and I didn't realize it had reset itself when I was adjusting other tabs before closing the window or if something else is triggering it to recheck itself

Save the camera settings after you make the change. If you don't the next time it's loaded it may revert back. Not sure.
When making changes, I always export the cameras I change, then also export the BI settings.
