BI5 will not run as of 1/2/2021 - ISSUE RESOLVED

Post by JRB100 »

MY ISSUE BELOW WAS SOLVED BY PRIORITY SERVICE... A recently installed replacement camera was set to record audio which the camera does not support. All is back to normal. Blue Iris software is great. (A vast improvement over the D-Link system I used since 2013.)

I am running the full version of BI5 on a new Windows 10 (64 bit) computer (since June 2019). The program is set to do automatic updates every night. This morning BI5 was not running. I restarted the computer and then started BI. It briefly showed camera images on 2 of 3 monitors, then shutdown. I repeated the steps above with the same results. The computer is dedicated to Blue Iris software only.

I have emailed support but thought I would post here in case anyone else has faced a similar issue.

1/3/2021 - I have attempted a number of actions to fix the BI crash. The most interesting...

Blue Iris 5 loads correctly and displays all cameras when I have the ethernet cable unplugged. (The cameras show "no signal" since I am using no WiFi connections.) Once I plug in the ethernet cable, BI5 crashes.

(I have also deleted and reinstalled the software. I also imported my profile settings file from a date prior to this issue.)

Ooh, double posting eh ? I mentioned in the other thread that you should to make a new thread, so this will do fine.

1. Please let us know what "Reliability History" shows.
2. What happens if you start BI5 with ethernet disconnected, disable all cameras (right click on each one in BI5 window) then plug in the ethernet cable ? If it doesn't crash, enable them one by one.

Good news !

I would advise you to turn off automatic downloads for BI and Windows, as they can cause havoc on what is basically a security system. I do all of the updates at a weekend (when I have the time to fix whatever may happen), and then lock them out again until next time.

I believe i've resolved my issue as well, and figured it might help someone to post it here as well - keep in mind, my issue was with BI 4 not 5 but it should help

Here's what i just posted in my thread

"I noticed a notification on my taskbar that "App & browser control" were not activated or enabled - for the hey of it i activated it.
Then opened BI 4, this was last nite - and haven't had a crash from BI 4 since

Don't know if that's a permanent fix but it has given my my cameras back

if it helps someone else, location was in Setting > Update & Security > Windows Security > App & Browser control
