Hi Everyone
I am interested in tracking how quickly something passes right to left from a video feed, and if greater than a particular speed, to trigger.
You guessed it, for basic car speed detection - i live in a little village that is used as a race track at night. Initially it would be good to have just an alert of capturing the image of the car. I would move onto apnr / posting to facebook as the next stage.
Back to detection, any ideas?

Re: Speed detection
BI out-of-the-box cannot do this. Not sure about the AI option.
Same issue where I am. This is what I had thought of...
- Putting two white marks in the street (using the chalk water based spray). , 100' apart - or a known distance. Probably illegal, which is why I havn't done it.
If there are marks in the road... cracks/manhole covers/marking... use those.
- Using BI, you could time the marks where the front/read tire touches the marks, noting the timing.
- using the timings, you can easily calculate the speed.
Kind of weird. But, I think it would work. The Sherriff dept. here in Minnesota usig this meathod with helicopters on dome of the freeways with markings 1/10 to 1/3 mile apart.
