blurry video when I double-click to maximize screen initially

Post by rrands1 »

Using BI5, mix of 4MP and 8MP cameras. In the main screen where I can see all the cameras, some will be crisp at times, and blurry at others. If it's blurry, when I double-click to maximize the picture, it will generally remain blurry for up to 45 seconds or so, and then get the "expected" crisper picture.

Is this normal, and is there a way to fix it? (or make it clear up faster in any case) It's annoying when I want to go look at something quickly, but it is blurry for a bit.

UPDATE: another oddity - on one of the cams, I have it obscured (neighbor's house) - when in the main screen, it blacks it out as expected, and when I initially double-click on it, it is obscured (while the pic is blurry), but when the video cleans up, it also removes the black-out, so I can see the whole pic again. That is not what I had expected for behavior - does that help at all?

Thank you!

It sounds like you're using sub streams and it's taking longer than normal to change to the primary stream. I see the same behavior with blocking the neighbors house where it will show the blackout in place on the sub stream but not on the main stream although my system changes to the main stream within a second or so.

I can't speak to the black outs (don't use them) but the blurry to clear does sound like substream behavior as terk pointed out. Generally, at least my experience, is that the feeds should upconvert to the main stream (more better and clear) within about a second. You noted more like 45 seconds so something is up.

How is your CPU doing? How about RAM? I doubt it but any issues with network capacity? Can you provide a screenshot of your Blue Iris Status -> Cameras tab?
