Limit size not respected

I believe that this is a bug in the latest release(s).
I am suddenly experiencing the same behaviour on my NAS with overallocation eventhough no setting was changed.

I don't think it's a bug only in the latest release(s), as I have this issue and I'm still on 5.8.0.7 (from Oct 2023). If it is still a current bug dating from at least that far back, it's ridiculous that it hasn't been fixed yet as it is so fundamental to housekeeping.

You are bumping and old thread and complaining about a missing fix, while for some reason not updating your software?

It is a valid observation and a fair criticism.

As is glaringly obvious throughout this forum, "upgrades" can occasionally be anything but positive steps forward on a system that already serves the needs of the user.

Last time I checked, rollbacks seem to usually provide a superior method for fixing bugs than upgrades.

5.7.4.2 works for me and will continue to do so until I find the compelling need to fix what isn't broken.

Understood but this particular bug was adressed and fixed a few months back to my best knowledge.
When you choose to remain on a 12 month old release, how can you expect the behavior to disappear and still critisize developers for not taking action?
Latest stable version is listed as 5.9.8.5 (Oct 3, 2024).

No such expectations were expressed.

The response clearly identifies your post as representing an undesirable condition (bug?) that was nearly a year old without resolution. The dates speak for themselves. And how many versions ago was that?

Most reasonable observers would see that as the point of the post.

I have offered a solution, which the responder can grab or leave.
Feel free to continue on a different solution with him, if updating the software isn't good for you both. It's a personal preference.
