Can't find my licence key anymore
Tanks in advance.
If all else fails, a new support plan would cost much less than a new licence, and would allow you to update to BI5. It all depends if you are a commercial user who must get it running immediately, or a home user who has time to go through Windows back ups and look at old registry entries.

I see nothing wrong with hoping for the courtesy of their cooperation in assisting with the situation under the circumstances. Wouldn't anyone give it a shot before being held hostage for a new license? Hell, you'd be a fool not to.

And as I clearly stated to avoid this specific philosophical (and annoyingly repetitive) argument, it was pretty much his only shot (without having to buy a new key).

But let the BI Support Cheerleading Team chime in ad nauseum now that the issue has become front and center once again.

Sheesh, Henry. Even WITH a paid support agreement it's a crap shoot if you'll receive any from those folks on a good day. If they're busy fielding emails about why the latest stable release just broke everyone's servers? Well..., forget it.

And get off the poor guy already. He came here looking for help.

This may work...

It was written some time ago by the person who developed UI3.

Simply extract the .exe and run it. Your security software will complain. It's safe.

I just ran it on an Evaluation Version and it correctly determined the status as not activated. It will reportedly extract the original key and user information associated with the original installation -- assuming it still exists. It is also designed around earlier iterations of BI which may enhance the chances of success. (I was reluctant to test it on my production server due to not currently having the time to address any unintended consequences.)

i finaly got an answer from BI, they said that my purchase of my licence is longer than a year ago, so i have to buy a new one, they gave me a cuppon so i can buy it for half the price.
Strange to say the least , i was looking on the internet and i found an BI version 5.7.9.4. that was fully functional so BI can put there offer where the sun does not shine.
Thanx everyone .

It's nice to know that you were able to find a hacked free version of BI, if you have problems with it be sure to try and get free support from BI, I am sure that they will give you the support that you paid for!

Sad to hear that. I wonder if they lost the old records in the big server crash a year or two ago.

Was the new version installed as an upgrade to the original v4 version or done standalone?

If standalone it will go south sooner or later, so hang on to that coupon.

If it was somehow installed as an upgrade to the original version, the original key was obviously extracted from somewhere to validate the installation and should now be available on the Blue Iris Settings page along with the original name and email..., which I highly doubt will be the case. (But you never know.)

This is also the first I've ever heard of a readily available fully functioning version of Blue Iris for free anywhere. I highly doubt this as well.
