I'm finding the alerts coming through still to be extremely unreliable and/or delayed, and basically random if an image is sent or not. Like I can drive to work and be walking to my office and then get alerted about myself leaving the house 15mins ago.

Not a great look for a security camera app.

It is incredibly well supported. $5.00 -- once.

Nice one, Pogo. I’ll check it out, as it might be just what I need given the current issues we're having with alerts. Thanks!

I’m experiencing the same issues, and it’s reassuring to know I’m not alone in this, but it’s incredibly frustrating. We definitely need a solution, as this is becoming unbearable! I’m considering looking into the Pushover service that was suggested earlier. It might be a bit complicated to set up, but if it’s reliable, it’s worth a try. I’m really disappointed with Blue Iris right now; not receiving notifications is a serious problem. Your alerts seem even more delayed than mine, but I’m still facing significant unreliable/delays as well. Something is definitely wrong here.

There is a free 30 day trial period for Pushover then a $5.00 fee as more of a donation than anything else. No subscription or other strings attached..., just a slight learning curve.

The IPCT thread looks daunting at the outset but the curl script format is very simple to use -- including all kinds of custom sound capabilities. There's an email option as well as the push. It's also pretty cool and provides standard .jpeg attachments where the push is basically geared toward actual UI3 live links which are clickable thumbnails as the main convenience.

As with any push or email alert app, the providers/carriers in the middle are always the weakest link. Pushover mitigates that quite admirably by exclusively using Apple and Google servers. Alerts are typically instant on your own WLAN.

It’s good to know that there’s an alternative like Pushover, but I’ve taken a look and it’s not straightforward to set up at all. To be honest, I’m already struggling with a lot right now, and having to deal with this on top of everything else just feels overwhelming.

I’m really disappointed that I have to consider finding a workaround when Blue Iris was working perfectly before. It’s frustrating to be in a position where something as basic as notifications is causing so much hassle. I really hope they sort this out soon because I’m not sure I have the energy to tackle another complex setup.

This is definitely still an issue. Notifications are only reliable if the phone is awake and the screen is active. Otherwise, no notification or delayed to the point of being useless. I'm not inclined to try a different app for notifications as someone suggested, because BI should work and was working. And as I stated earlier, for me, the notifications stopped working without any BI server update or BI (android) mobile update. The only other thing that was different was; when I remoted to the windows box, that I use exclusively for the BI software (and CodeProject AI), to trouble shoot the notifications issue I noticed that Windows 10 had an update and was waiting to be rebooted. After not finding anything in BI I wondered if the Windows update did something. I checked that BI was still allowed in the firewall (it was) but I'm not sure what else to look for that could be causing the issue.

BI server is sending the notifications (no issues in the log).
BI mobile is giving the notification (custom sound - I'm not using image) - *IF* the mobile device is awake and the screen is active.

This makes me think that something with android is causing the problem. (Is anyone with IPhone having this issue?)
Or the BI android mobile app is the problem.

I've done quite a bit of windows programming (C#) over the years and I've dabbled in android (java) and in my opinion, comparably, programming in android is a major pain in the ass. For one thing, google makes breaking changes all the time.

All these problems seemed to have commenced around the time I spoke to Ken who mentioned that something changed with Google FCM. Since then everything has gone pair shaped in terms of notifications for us Android users.

Ken said " FCM broke the connection and we had to recode some things to accommodate this"

Well if you say coding android is a major pain in the butt, maybe they haven't gotten their heads around how to fix it yet...

Dude, I'm as frustrated as you are as I'm not comfortable not getting notifications, I ran a test, it took 10 mins to come through , screen off, app closed , no custom sound.. 10 mins and beep and a text only notification.

Yes, it's not only android, but also the plugins and third party api's that throw you curve balls. A quick search for FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) has this "caution". And when they say "migrate" it's not usually just a "unplug and plug in" change.

Caution: Sending messages (including upstream messages) with the FCM XMPP and HTTP legacy APIs was deprecated on June 20, 2023, and will be removed starting June 2024. If you are using the legacy FCM send APIs, we strongly recommend that you migrate to the HTTP v1 API or consider using the Admin SDK to build send requests.

No such issues with Pushover.

And the scripts are little more than cut and paste with tons of examples throughout the IPCT thread. Here's mine for basic image alerts. The syntax is explained early on in the thread.

Working Script: https://api.pushover.net/1/messages.json -s --form-string "token=your auth token" --form-string "user=your user string credential" --form-string "message=Activity Detected in Driveway<b>&CAM</b> &MEMO" --form-string "device=Stylo-5" --form-string "sound=Pushover" -F "attachment=@D:\BlueIris\Alerts\&ALERT_PATH"

Plug it in here:

Curl Run Action.jpg

Schedule it if you like: (which can also be done with the app)

Pushover Alert Schedule.jpg

Add your favorite sound effect and start getting alerts.

If you want images to be UI3 links, just add the syntax for the live stream and tap the image.
