Am wondering if there is an "economical" way to enable an alert from BI5 to switch on a light? I assume this would be done via sending a "http" command to IP enabled switch?

A "Google" suggests that these switches cost a lot - in the hundreds - and I was wondering if there is anything that people can recommend that would be more cost effective for a home project?

Also, am I correct in assuming that such a switch would be almost instantaneous to the alert so long as it is on the same network as BI5?

Many of the home automation solutions can do this, and they go from free to $$$ (£££s in my case). I use Homeseer to turn on external lights when BI5 detects motion, and yes, it is almost instantaneous.

It may be expensive for one light, but then you get the bug. I press one button on a IR remote control, and my AV equipment starts up - amplifier on, set to correct channel and volume/ Z-wave turns projector power and screen power on/ IR turn projector on/ IR command screen down/ Z-wave dim lights. Press pause, and the lights come on dim etc
