Old clips won't delete

Post by BINoob »

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

For some reason, the old clips won't delete.

After 1 day, I move the .bvr files to a new folder and create an .mp4 version. I want Blue Iris to delete the oldest versions (both .bvr and .mp4) once I reach a certain limit. Right now, I have the limit set to 1600 GB. But for some reason, nothing is getting deleted. The drives keep filling up and BI crashes once the drive gets too full. Here are my settings.

Hi BINoob,

So the files are moved from New to Stored OK, but Stored gets too full and BI crashes. Can you add a picture of the Clip Storage settings ? (Click icon of graph at top of BI5, click on clip storage tab).

Where do your converted files go ? If they are also on G: then maybe you have over used G: - the above image should show if BI5 has an issue with allocated space. I am unsure if BI5 will delete converted files...

Also, is there anything in the log to tell you what occurred ? You can force BI5 to write the log to a text file by clicking that graph icon, going to the Messages tab, and setting it up on the bottom of the page. Don't forget to turn this off when you have finished.

here's the Storage settings snapshot: Image

The converted files go to the same folder. G:\BlueIris\Stored folder.

I see in the log that when the storage runs out, I start to get the "Clip: Disk Full" error. But that's expected, right?

Even if BI can't delete the .mp4 files, I'd expect it to at least delete the .bvr files when storage gets low. It doesn't even seem to do that.

I highly doubt this is the issue but I noticed in your "Stored" folder settings that the drive letter is a capital "G" whereas every other reference to a drive letter is lowercase.

Interestingly (maybe?? - depends how dull your day is) everything on my installation is capital. But whatevs, maybe the software is case sensitive in some instances??

I don't see anything wrong in clip storage, however I do think you can confuse the BI5 delete function by having other things writing to the same hard drive, and I think your mp4 files may be in this category and may not be taken into account.
As a test, could you change your mp4 files to be saved to a different drive ? Temporarily send them to a usb drive ?

Interesting. Worth a shot. Thx.
