BI 5 freezes computer

Post by mform »

I just purchased and installed Blue Iris version 5 on a new computer running Windows 10 Pro Release 1903. I installed all updates when starting up as prompted. The computer has an Intel i7 CPU with 16 GB of memory. When first installed, Task Manager noted that it was using 95%-100% of the CPU with 7 cameras. I did the usual things (Direct to Disk, Intel Hardware) and this dropped to about 25% CPU usage. Unfortunately, after several hours, the machine becomes completely unresponsive and frozen. No keyboard or mouse, etc. so the only way to "recover" is to force a power down by holding the power button for several seconds. The computer runs for days without BI 5 so I do not think that it is the hardware.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how was it fixed? Right now, the software is useless to me.

Thanks.

I just started having this problem last week after running several months with no issues. Reinstalled BI on another system that has been running for over a year with no problems and within a few hours, memory usage was at 100% and I had to power cycle the computer to get it working again.

I had to log in to all my cameras and drop the framerate otherwise my CPU & Memory were in the 90% range even with no motion. I dropped my cameras to 7fps for success as 10 still didn't do it for me.
