Complete n00b here. I downloaded v5 and am running in demo mode. All I currently have is a usb webcam (logitech c270) while I'm deciding which "real" camera to buy.
No matter what I do, or what setting I check, I can't record video...either continuous, or motion detection.
However, I *do* get jpg images when motion is detected. But no video.
Should I be able to record from a usb webcam?
If so, is there a log dump some where that I can upload, or should I just upload a bunch of screengrabs to show my configuration?
(I posted this on Reddit, but have only had a single response so far.)

Re: USB webcam not recording
I've never tried this with a webcam, but:
1. Can you actually see the moving real time video stream in BI5 ?
2. And is it then just not recording it ?
That would probably be like my two old analogue cameras on the Eurysys PCI card. They didn't record either, but I could see the live video in real time in BI5. The answer from support was to go to "Video file format and compression" for that camera, and set it to:
Blue Iris BVR
and
Re-encode with settings - H264 - with the other settings on default values.
That works for me.
