lost ability to see vehicles at night

Post by wlf311 »

Hello all, been a while but I had everything working well until now. Somehow (no new cams, no cam settings changes, just regular Blur Iris updates) I have lost triggering on vehicles coming up or going down my driveway at night. Just vehicles. I still see racoons, cats, deer etc. But no more vehicles and I know it used to work. Daytime is fine, wildlife is fine. I know it used to work because I recall thinking I wanted to play with settings to see if I could get rid of the glare from license plate bulbs to be able to read the numbers. Any one else having this issue? Like I said no camera changes at all and everything else triggers fine. Wierd.

Still no luck tried changing some setting and still nothing. Can't see vehicles at night coming or going. I must be missing something basic??? I can even see mice going across my driveway but not a car or truck??? Any suggestions on what I might have set up wrong or setting may have changed from an update. Don't want to pay for another year if this isn't going to work anymore. My trail cams will capture vehicles fine but I like being able to see my cams on my phone. Again this used to work as I have saved vehicle captures from a few months ago. Please any suggestions on things to try or check would be appreciated.

Hi wlf311,

Do you think it is a size of viewed object or bright light issue ? The first thing that comes to mind is the camera "Object Detection" settings, as you can "Reset detector when object size exceeds" a set percentage of the screen. Mine are enabled, and are set to 85% to prevent moving clouds triggering the recordings by changing the light. What value do you have there ? If much lower than that, it could mean you miss cars but record mice !

One of the previous suggestions here has been to clone the camera so you can try different settings on each clone. That should speed up the process (if it isn't as simple as the % setting).

TimG made a good suggestion with the 'Object Size Exceeds' setting. This has bitten me a few times.

Are you using 'Edge Vector'? if the object vector changes, then I believe it would not trigger. If your using 'Edge Vector', change to 'Simple', and run some of the video thru the motion detector.
