Clone then different Zoom

Hi

I am sure this has been asked or discussed but I cannot find the answer.

Simply I want 2 views of the same camera.

First will be wide angle and #2 zoomed in say 4x.

When I clone and have the same cam with 2 different names if I zoom in one , the other does the same.

Am I dreaming ?

Hi Spikemixture,

Surely that means you are asking a single camera to be at two different zoom levels at the same time ?

Cloning is usually used to either add identical cameras (change the IP address for the new one), or to try different trigger settings on the same camera while trying to figure out which ones work best for you. I don't think this will work

Is the 4x zoom a mechanical zoom on the camera or just software in BI? I'd think/assume the latter would work but the former impossible. BI is just duplicating the exact same (single) stream from the camera into two displays essentially.

Cloning is a way of streaming the 'Clone Master' to another viewport/camera without the overhead of another login and stream from the camera. It's a great bandwidth and cpu saver.

If your using the Zoom buttons in the Blue Iris PTZ console/UI3, then yes, BI sends that to the camera - so master & clone will zoom.

Previously I mentioned using digital zoom on the clone. Well, this won't work because the actual live & recording will be done at the full camera view.

You can use 'Area Of Interest' in the cameras Video tab. It's a bit difficult to setup, but once done, will accomplish what you want.

The problem is getting it to that exact position when it is changed. I use the Master to position the camera. When I move a camera vi ptz, my cameras usually do not go to the exact ptz '1' position I want.
How I resolve this is to use Overlays. I add bright green dots around the perimeter of window/door/structure/pole. This makes it much easier to position the camera (using ptz) exactly where I want to match the zones. I haven't used this to digitally zoom & position, but I'm sure it could be used for that also.

Nonsense & Ramblings...

I'm doing exactly what your doing. I have 3 cameras cloned. One is my front yard which I clone as 'FrontDoor' and have a completely different set of motion sensor settings and zone. I do the same with my driveway.

The result is that I get the normal contagious recordings and clips. But then, I get my 'Red ' zone triggers when someone enters my driveway and/or approaches my front door. I then get an immediate push to my phone & mms txt message with the trigger photo. Later, I get an email with the video and photos evert 5 seconds of the motion.

This is incredibly useful when expecting visitors and packages. You should see the delivery person when I open the door just as their approaching my front door! lol. The normal USP driver is used to it now!

Problem is, about half the time the packages are placed directly in front of the screen door, and if the package is heavy I can't get the door open - so I try to meet them with the door OPEN. lol
