Foscam FI9853EP sub-stream access

Post by VerySecure »

I have a couple of Foscam FI9853EP dome cameras. They are working within my Blue Iris environment (HD main stream). These cameras have a sub-stream but, after multiple attempts, I can't get them to work with BI. I do have other cameras working with their sub-streams, but these Foscam's have proven to be a challenge. Any comments or direction would be appreciated.

I resolved this issue by using some guidance provided in the thread "Blue Iris 5 sub-stream profile Foscam FI9828P".

TimG noted he was able to get the sub-stream working on his Foscam R2 by setting the model to "C1/C2/R2/R4/FI98xx/99xx RTSP".

I used the same setting for my FI9853EP and I was able to access the sub-stream.

Unfortunately, the FI9853EP limits the frame rate, and the key frame rate, to 10fps on the sub-stream.

This process has been rather frustrating and time consuming. I was able to access the sub-streams in VLC Player and iSpy, but it was a struggle to find workable settings in BI.

I am still reviewing the value of the sub-stream, at this frame rate, verses the reduction in CPU cycles.
