No Signal

Good afternoon folk. I have just bought BI and as a novice, I'm asking if there is a thread that covers no signal. I can imagine people are fed up with this question, so I would rather read up on it myself, at first. Many thanks in advance

Not really sure, but the first test you would want to do is whether you can connect to your camera from a web browser and your credentials.

From there, go into the camera settings, enter the URL and credentials and hit the "inspect" button which should query the camera for its capabilities.

Thanks for the quick response. I should elaborate a bit more then. I'm not using this as an IP cam yet, just for basic webcam monitoring and not streaming. I find it runs fine for about 45 minutes on continuous record, then drops the signal. On motion enabled it idles just fine. That's about it basically. I have been searching for an idiots guide for the correct settings, but no joy. I'm sure it's me doing something wrong.

If you are just getting started, we need to get some terminology down...

BI is not used as a IP cam.

It is a video management system that takes IP cam streams (and maybe an onboard webcam, although I have never done that) and records them all so that a user can come back and review any footage. It can record 24x7 or it can be set up to record on various trigger events. It can also generate alerts and other tasks.

So.... are you trying to use a built-in or USB connected web cam on your machine that is running BI?

Yeah, understand. It's a USB camera. Not an expensive one, just middle of the road. Like I said I'm not using it for web streaming. Just the basic monitoring. Really, thanks for trying to help me out. We could post too and throw on this matter. I've gone through the user manual to make sure my settings are OK. Up to now, they seem fine and everything works as it should except for continuous record. Obviously not tried the IP side yet. I got nothing to add to be honest. Was looking first to see if there is a thread with pics maybe lol
