Getting to the right view to allow exporting

I am a user with four or five years of casual BI usage going back to BI4 and now BI5.

Every once in a while I need to export a clip of interest.

I seem to have to randomly try lots of different views, double-clicking here, clicking there, one camera, all cameras, back to one camera, timeline, full screen... never getting the option to set the start and end marks for the export.

Randomly click around again and then, mysteriously, I finally stumble upon the proper view to allow me to export.

Can someone explain a simple way to get to the proper view for exporting?

I suppose the random way is OK since I only need to do it a couple of times a year but, man, I feel stupid when this happens.

It’s quite simple, open up either an alert or the actual BVR, then right click to get the export option. You can also use the little markers on the time line to mark the start and end of the clip. The markers can be set by either right clinking and then selecting start of clip or end of clip options or by clicking on the markers on the timeline and dragging them.

I'll get a screen shot. The problem is that often times I don't get those options. I must have the viewer in a different mode that doesn't allow export.

There are actually 2 different views when looking back (scrubbing) the timeline... View & Edit/Export. Why two? Each has it's own features and behaves slightly different when using the 'Next/Prev Item' functions.

View mode:
This has the WHITE boarder around it. This is for viewing. It does not have editing/export.
When in the View mode, double-click the window to take you to Edit/Export mode.

Edit/Export mode:
This does not have the white boarder. You will see the Set Start/End Frame markers & the blue bar with a circle in it indicating the view point.
You can export the section you want.
To get back to View mode, press ESC.

Darn it, now I somehow moved a camera to a desktop window and it removed that camera from my main (used to be) four-up leaving me now with a 3-up.

As much as the BI software has improved, it can still be a little klunky even for an experienced user.

Now I am trying to figure out how to get my lost camera back into the 4-up main window.

I was trying to figure out how to get my main window to enter a single camera view with a timeline and playback when I double click the cam.

It is now sending it to a full-screen viewer when I double click it.

Starting with the 4-up of my four cameras, how to I get to each of these two views for one camera? Now, when I double-click a camera it goes into full screen mode.

Damn it. I cannot figure out how to get my fourth camera back on the main x-up display.

I mistakenly set it to "open desktop" or similar when that camera was double-clicked. I did that causing that one camera to spin off to a small separate window. Now it is gone and I can't get it back.

It is active and recording, I just can't get it back on my main display.

Interestingly, that single camera now is showing "webcast" data when looking at the camera statistics table. The others are not.

Any ideas?

That is a known bug. For me, the camera would also disappear from all views! This would happen to me, and I stopped using it.

I'm having a difficult time remembering how I resolved it...
- Go to 'All', then back yo your normal view. Did the camera show up?
- Or, to 'Edit Layout' and deselect/select the camera. Did that work?

Edit layout didn't work. Just 3/4 of my cameras are in that view.
I only have ALL as my view. I'll need to create a new view to see if that helps.

Thanks

Maybe this explanation will be helpful - unless I've misunderstood your question.

If you have Solo Camera selected in the clips list, the list will filter by camera. If it is not selected the clips list will always display all camera clips in the list.
