Can BI use Reolink's ability to recognize people and cars?

Post by Stumpjumper »

I recently added a Reolink RLC-822A and when I'm viewing the camera on the Reolink app on my ipad I notice that the camera does a good job of recognizing people and cars (the app will display an icon of a person or a vehicle when they are in view). I've had a problem with getting false alerts in BI due to headlights because I live at the top of a "T" intersection and BI sees the passing headlights as motion.

That got me thinking: can I tell BI to only trigger when the camera sends a signal that it sees a person?

Thanks

Hi, see Sam's thread on using ODM to find the capabilities of a camera viewtopic.php?f=15&p=12490#p12490

If your camera supports isMotion:true/false then he is stating that BI5 will be able to trigger from it. What is outside of BI5's control, is what the camera logic decides is a valid motion. The camera may only show generic motion, or it could have menu settings to fine tune which type of motion/ human/ car etc. Some experimentation will be required - and please let us know what you find. My gut feeling is that it will only be a generic motion signal.

The alternative is Deepstack :?

Very helpful link to Sam's discussion- thanks! According to ODM, the RLC-822A is a "isMotion:true/false" camera. I made some tweaks to BI (version 5.4.7.11) and it is picking up the camera's alerts but it's still too much. I'm going to use the Reolink app on my ipad to minimize the area that the camera uses for motion detection and hopefully that lets me limit the alerts to just my driveway and porch.

My only other gripe is that I don't get smooth playback (in the app or BI) when the camera is set to its highest resolution. Other than that I like the wide viewing angle which is what I was looking for.
