Group layout metadata is missing for "Index". Probably a Blue Iris bug...

Hello,
I am a licensed user and I have been using a raspberry pi to display the camera images throughout several monitors around my house. The Firefox browser in the pi is set to full kiosk mode, when it boots up it brings up the selected layout, no keyboard/mouse required. I am quite happy with this setup as it works great - well in most cases.
From time to time - and it seems that more often lately - I get a red error message on the bottom right of the scree with the following message:
Code: Select all
Group layout metadata is missing for "Index" . Probably a Blue Iris bug.
If I reboot the PI it goes away for a few days the it comes back again. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
Thanks
Oxxy.

Couple of random thoughts, just spitballin'... The message is generated by UI3 from the developer of UI3. Missing Index might point to a connectivity issue with the server. My thought is, test it on another client machine (pc) and even a different browser on pi. I would want to prove to myself that happens regardless of device or browser or UI3 settings. Because if that's true, it's not an artifact, it's a problem.

I have 2 different raspberry pi's which are connected 24/7 to the http interface of blue iris and displaying the cameras through that. On a PC I cannot reproduce this error, because I never keep it on long enough to get the error. If I reboot the raspberry PI, the error goes away for a few days, then it appears again a few days later - with no specific timing. I can see the time rolling under the cameras, while the error is there, so the image is getting updated.

The message is telling you that there is a problem related to the group layout. That means either the group layout in the console or in UI3. I'll bet you a beer it's in UI3, unless you did something wonky when creating the group in the console. The way to test it is to run UI3 on different clients and different browsers. UI3 default settings work. They are also unique to each client. You can have a streaming quality of 4MP on one client, and 1MP in another. When I said run it on a different pc with a different browser, I was suggesting to run UI3 - and keep it running as a client. If the message pops up, you'll know. You can even assign a sound if it does in UI3.
Further, since the message is related to group layout, have a look at what group is displaying - change it. Look in the BI status log to see if any errors are being logged.
Another user went through a similar exercise ->
Audio gone in UI3

Thanks for posting back. For whatever it's worth, I've been using BI since v3, circa 2013. In all that time most of my problems with it have been caused by PEBCAK - got plenty of scars to prove it. I'm not saying that's the case for you, I'm just saying I try to keep that in mind.
