I had been running BI5 on a Dell XPS 8940 PC (Windows 10 Pro) which died in a power surge a few weeks ago. I have a new replacement PC: Dell XPS 8950 (Windows 11 Pro) on order. I am hoping I can rehost my existing BI5 license (still current including BI Maint) to the new machine. Is this relatively straightforward?
I also am hoping I can find a way to migrate the BI5 settings from my old PC to the new PC. I am hoping the M.2 SSD will still be readable. I have a M.2 SSD to USB 3 adapter. I am hoping there is some kind of an XML or other data file that contains my BI5 settings. Is that possible?
Also I have the additional complications of going from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro.
I am really hoping I can restore my previous settings since the trigger, notification, etc criterea took a long time to setup and tweak for my 4 Annke C800 cameras.
Export / Import BI5 settings - Migrate to New PC
Re: Export / Import BI5 settings - Migrate to New PC
import/export worked fine here. Understand how the registration works when you go to transfer it.That saves/restores the BI registry keys. If you are using CP/AI, that is not in the BI registry.
Someone over on the dark side posted a link to a backup program on github: https://github.com/bp2008/biupdatehelper. I think bp2008 is the author of the web UI. I have not looked at that, nor know anything about it. I just use the export function to make backups. Our AI stuff is on a separate system, a VM.
