Reduce recording quality after x days.

Hi.
I have my cameras setup to record continuously with direct to disk.
As I'm adding more cameras the length of time recordings are kept for is reducing.
Is there a good way to after 10 days for example reduce the recording quality?
I've just tried testing converting to mp4 and it is taking a really long time.
BVR is also greyed out on the convert screen..
Thanks!

Without re-encoding it you won’t be able to reduce the quality but BI does have options for continuous recording of the substream until a trigger when it will switch over to the main stream. This can save a lot of space depending on the substream settings.

Yeah, the only way to reduce the resolution would be to re-encode the entire stream.
While is could be done, re-encoding old streams would take a lot of horsepower.

Looks like you need a bigger hard drive

Thanks all,
A bigger hdd would be nice but gotta watch the spending at the mo
Reading your replies I'm wondering
If I were to clone the camera,
one recording main stream set to delete after 10 days and
One recording sub stream with no limit.
Would the dual recording but high def limited reduce or increase overall hdd usage over 30 days.

That seems reasonable.

That would depend entirely on the resolution of your cam, what res the main and substream are set to, the bitrate, stream format and off course your hard drive size.
Given what I’ve just told you you should be able to approx if what you’ve said would give you what you want?
