To reduce load and since live playback can slightly stutter with reolink and blue iris i tend to set any reolink cameras to rtmp.
This works fine on all of them and except the duo 3 poe.
It connects without issue but for some reason blueiris doesn't record off of it when rtmp is used.
Anyone else run into this or have any ideas?
Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
RTMP isn't functional on anything beyond 5MP cameras from what I understand (and have personally experienced.) The port and protocol are there but only for proprietary communication between cameras and the client/app. An normal RTMP stream is unattainable from my experience (and according to Reolink).
ONVIF would have nothing to do with it.

Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Odd since it works perfectly fine and has been doing so with blue iris for quite some time.
Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Care to share your configuration and main stream info for a 4K camera successfully running RTMP?
Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Make: Reolink
Model: RLC-410/411/420/422/423/511/520 Baseline RTMP
Main: Default
Sub: Default
Replace (id) with User
Replace (pw) with password
For both the main and sub
Leave buffer at default or match to camera
Once saved it may not kick in right away like Onvif but should popup once the server restarted.
It doesn't work unless your using the default admin account for the camera
The duo 3 poe streams totally smooth but it wont record when other 4 k cameras on rtmp do so without issue.
Almost certainly has to do with it two camera nature.

Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
RTMP is not supported in 4K and above Reolink cameras using their main H265 stream. Period. The end.
The sub-stream and lower main stream resolutions at H264 should work with RTMP, but what's the point if it's a new Duo 3 or any other hi-res camera? RTSP works fine under those conditions anyway.
The best approach is using the latest firmware releases and tweaking your BI settings to get what you paid for from the camera. Dumbing it down to satisfy BI is, well..., dumb.

Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Yeahhhh about that.
Time for some education it seems.
There very little of what you said that actually accurate.
Most of the reolink 4k cameras are using H264 and it's only the 8MP or above use H265
https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/ar ... k-Cameras/
RTMP is a protocol and it supports 4k in H264 and has done so for a long time now.
Also RTMP supports H265 and has done so for the last few years in most cases.
No one is dumbing down their cameras by using RTMP as its low latency and more heavily optimized then RTSP.
RTSP is a easier setup as it was designed with cameras and local networks in mind but it comes with its own cons.
What funny is i said i can see the camera fine but its not recording.
This should have been a giant clue that RTMP supports H265.
The likely reason it isn't recording is because the camera is still fairly new.
If it's any consolation it gave me a laugh when i really needed it.

Re: Duo 3 records with onvif but not with rtmp
Yeah, I'm a real barrel o' laughs.
Your facts are incorrect when it comes to the Reolink cameras and RTMP.
I never claimed RTMP didn't support H265. I said "RTMP is not supported in 4K and above Reolink cameras using their main H265 stream" which is a documented fact.
Period. The end. Again.
Maybe try adding more ONVIF to smooth out your streams.
