Hi guys,

did anyone notice a significant difference in the CPU usage between 5.7 and 5.8 versions?

I usually stay with the latest BI versions and most of time it worked but recently I went mad trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
After I upgraded from 5.7 to 5.8 I noticed a significant increase in CPU usage. If normally my CPU levels somewhere between 50%-70%, after I upgraded to 5.7 it was maxed out most of the time.
I tried everything I could - started using sub-streams, reinstalled windows, moved to Win11 etc etc.

I somehow managed to stabilize it at around 60% but it went up to the top every time when a camera saw a motion so I believe it might be related to motion detection component.
I tried both Simple and Edge Vector but it made no difference.

Any thoughts?

Try lowering motion sensitivity, ensuring sub-streams are set up correctly, and disabling unused features.

Could you please explain how sub-streams could be setup incorrectly?
I mean - it looks pretty straightforward so what could be done wrong there?

Further to my initial post, in case someone comes across that.
I was using Intel NUC with i3-1220P CPU.
I am not sure what was wrong with that but I have been having a number of issues with that.
Recently it started overheating, I installed HWInfo to see if the CPU was throttling and sure it was. Not always but periodically. FAN seemed to be fairly clean, so maybe it was a thermo grease that needed replacement?
I even tried to open up the case and run the system fully naked and yet I was having all sorts of lags, throttling etc.

Or maybe it was just an issue with 12/13 Gen CPUs in total. According to Intel ARC i3-1220P has only two physical P-Cores and 8 E-Cores. Plus hyperthreading.
Looks like BI likes multy-core systems a lot and tries to utilize them all? In that case it would make sense since, as I mentioned above, 1220P has only 2+2 high performance cores so maybe it was just not enough of them to process all things at proper speed?

Anyway - I just moved to AMD 5500GT and oh boys - it is day and night! While 5500GT is considerably more powerful than 1220P (according to CPUBenchmark), its single-core performance is slightly lower.
However since its cores are ALL high-performance cores, I suspect it affected overall performance dramatically (in a good way).

I exported/imported my config so everything stayed exactly the same but now my system stays at around 20%-30% (average) and everything works sooo smoothly...
