Doing A Windows 11 Clean Install

Post by mike2874 »

I'm going to do a Windows 11 Clean Install does that necessitate Deactivating my BI license first?

So do I have my steps right to install BI after Clean Install:

1. Down BI from their website & install
2. Enter my BI license
3. Import my Settings Backup
4. If my Computer IP Address changes might be easier to change it back to what it was since my cameras are already seeing that Address
5 Should be All Set!

Yes you need to deactivate BI before wiping the existing system!

You steps look good to me, I just rebuilt one of my BI install, clean install on new hardware and imported saved setting, very similar to what you have described and it is working fine, are you changing BI versions during the process, I am not sure how much of a change you can make and have the reg file still work, if possible try to keep the versions the same, then apply upgrades to the new PC!

Thanks no I’m already on 5 and the latest firmware.

When you import the backup reg files do you have to import them from within the Blue Isis Folder? Or can I import those reg files from my desktop?

It does not matter where the reg file exists, it could be anywhere, Hard drive or even a USB stick, BI just needs to be able to read it to import the config setting!

BruceH you still around? I got Blue Iris reinstalled after the Clean Install but when I put in my license key it only gives me the option to go back or demo mode?

I never noticed this before but when I click on Edit Layout BI has my cameras all numbered in big red numbers. Why won't BI let me rearrange my cams the way I want them, I have my own numbered cams which differ from how BI has them numbered and it appears it doesn't want them out of order.

The red number I think are screen edit mode, check for an icon in the right upper area that says "edit layout", it looks like a pen over a square

Is the background behind the cameras all green by any chance, if so you are in layout edit mode! click the icon to exit edit mode!

Not sure about the eval mode, are you sure that you installed the same version that you had been using, is you maintenance expired?

No I'm already in Edit Layout. I can't rearrange the cameras out of order from how BI has them numbered in Big red numbers. In Edit Mode it has big green borders above the cameras.

Would this have anything to do since I'm stuck in Demo mode?

It also won't let me enter my license when I copy & paste it, I only get the option for back or Demo. I just emailed BI support but it will probably be days I suspect.

Sorry I have not done much with BI in eval mode, so I can not confirm if what is happening is related! You will likely have to wait for support!

Have you tried entering your key using the keyboard instead of pasting it in?
