Images on web interface are blurred

Post by e_l_green »

Blue Iris 5.9.9.8 on a Intel Core I5 14400

Everything is sharp and in focus on the main console. But when I look at them on the web interface they are blurred.

Main console: I can read the word 'jeep' on the vehicle.

But I look at it on the web console, and it's blurry:

I've tried tweaking all of the parameters that I've seen on the web console page (Settings->Web Server,Settings->Web Server->Advanced, Gear->Web Server->Advanced->Encoder Profiles->Configure ), and I can't seem to make it any sharper regardless of how I tweak the encoder.

I know it can be made sharper than this because I had it sharper than this on my old setup, which was far less capable hardware (a very old Intel NUC).

Suggestions?

Could you be comparing the main stream to a sub stream ?

e_i_green,

I can not see what is in your pictures as my AV software is blocking the connection to the images with the following message!

chrome.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an unmatching security certificate to badtux.org. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since the used certificate was issued for a different web address than the targeted one.

Malwarebytes didn't block them, so I can see them both.

OP: To add images, go beneath the window as you are writing and you will find:

1. A tab called Attachments.
2. Click it and then click "Add files".
3. Choose the file - Note the maximum file size.
4. Click cursor on the position in your text you want the image, and click "Place inline".
5. Click "Preview" to check it all looks OK.

That is a possibility, but where is that specified in the web UI configuration? I am obviously viewing the main stream in the main BlueIris program that opens up when I double-click the desktop icon. I don't see where to set to view the main stream in the web UI?

The all camera view should always be the sub stream, you can also set various quality settings from the gear icon in the lower right corner! or the streaming quality button on the left if you have the side bar displayed, The single camera view will depend on the streaming quality you have active at the time!

One of my BI systems is on a very slow internet connection and I always get really bad video quality due to the low bandwidth available!

I only use the UI3 web interface occasionally so there may be others that can add to this conversation, there are dozens of setting for UI3 and I have never used most of them!

I am viewing UI3 on a Mac Studio with a 10GbaseT Ethernet interface. It is connected to my core switch in the utility room via a 10GbaseT network cable. The video recorder is in the utility room and is connected to the core switch with a 1Gbit network cable. I don't think network performance is an issue here :).

Thing is, UI3 performed well with my old video recorder, an antique Intel NUC with significantly less horsepower than the current one. When I look at CPU usage on the new video recorder, it's literally half what it was on the old recorder. And when I look at it on the local UI, it looks fine. So I am baffled.

I have the resolution set to 2160VBR on the UI3 side. That particular camera has a resolution of 2560x1920 with a maximum bitrate of 8192kbps in H.264, it's a Reolink E1 Outdoor. Not the world's best camera but the image of the Jeep lettering shows how sharp it can be in good light.

Yep, it's saying stream resolution 640x480 on UI3, which is the substream. This is bizarre.

AHA. Was clicking through my cameras and found some were full resolution and some were not. Going to the VIDEO tab on the camera settings, some were set to FORCE SIZE and some were not. Removing FORCE SIZE fixed it.

So basically, when I hand-copied my camera settings from the old server to the new server, I messed up. Oh well. Carry on!
