Motion Detection Not Working

Post by troy@mninter.net »

I live out in the country and have deer and animals as well as vehicles and people which trigger events. I loaded a new version of BI last night and am now on 5.9.9.14 x64. It is not triggering hardly any clips on any of my cameras anymore. I have only a few and I can see out the window animals going by cameras. It normally triggers on deer, fox, squirrels, rabbits, you name it. Not 100% sure it quit working after the upgrade, but what else could have caused it?

Any suggestions?

Hi, is this with BI5 motion detection, or with CPAI as well ?

Just Bi as far as I know. I never enabled AI. I noticed that I was in the UI and a bunch of clips disappeared and now nothing is triggering. I have the motion detection turned off on the camera UI's and enabled in BI. I have never changed this. We have snow and I just had a delivery driver drop something off and it did not trigger.

I tried rebooting the server running BI as well and did not seem to help.

I understand the technology to some extent, but don't know how to go about trying to figure out why it is not triggering. I was trying to see if there was logging, but could find it. I have been using BI for a few years, but never had issues, so just used it and have not worked with it for a while.

After more digging, I found the system log and it shows alerted on the delivery and also says triggered: Motion_A.

I think the UI is filtering the clips.

I figured it out finally. I am going to save my above babbling in case it helps someone else with similar issues. In the UI clips, I somehow must have selected "All Clips". I changed that to "Alerts" and now they all show up again. Seems strange that All Clips would not include alerts.

Any comments on this?

"All clips" will indeed show the entire clip files. BI5 can be a complicated but powerful software. If you have another problem, please add screen grabs as they will help us to identify the issue.

All Clips will list the actual BVR files. Each one can have many alerts inside it. All Clips is a convenient way to quickly scroll through a long period of recording, as that will not require you to click on each individual Alert.

Switching to Alerts view will show a long list of individual events, many of which will reside in the same BVR file.
