AI setup help for ALPR

Hi folks,

I am trying to setup my Dahula IPC HFW 5241E as an ALPR camera. I have watched an excellent video on youtube and read the detailed writeup by the same author here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqc1ukrkMmI and https://www.thesmarthomehookup.com/free ... lkthrough/ .

I have a few problems, but one at a time. So i have Blue Iris and code project setup and "working" in that on my other camera it tells me when it sees a person, car, animal etc, just like it should. On my ALPR camera, i am mostly just interested in reading plates, so have just Dayplate, Nightplate and ALPR turned on. At least i think that's what's going on. The analysis shows vehicles with Dayplate and Nightplate, but not the actual number. I have attached some pictures of the AI setup, code project and a typical output.

I'm using BI version 5.9.9.17, and its running on a windows 11 VM with 12Gb ram allocated, 8 cores 16 threads, under Unraid, on a EPYC 7K62 48 core 96 thread CPU with 128Gb ram. CPU load in the VM is typically 10-15% with 11 cameras. CodeProject AI 2.9.5 is running in a docker on unraid with a dedicated Nvidia P8 GPU. What am i doing wrong?

Thanks, Des

Thanks, Des

Thank you for responding! Ok i have a different response from Blue iris now. The Alerts are populating with movement etc, but it states "nothing found". Attached is a screen grab of the AI review of the video. The test plate is quite clear i think, though i am still fine tuning night focus.

I wonder if it is as simple as unticking "Only for confirmed vehicle alerts":

It's unticked on mine and my BI5 system reads the number plates then adds them into the video with a macro.

I must say your night time image is excellent. I'm sure the ALPR will be able to read that.

Edit: Crikey MikeLud beat me to it :D

Thanks both for you assistance here. I had tried many combinations of the settings, but just couldn't get this to work. Is there a "buy me a coffee/beer" type link. Seriously, cheers!

Just to maybe finish this off. I setup the docker for codeProjectAI to now use a little t400 Nvidia GPU I also have in my server so I can use the Tesla p8 on other vm's and everything is working well with much less power used. The little t400 sips power, maybe 20w less than the p8, so all is good. Thanks 👍

Congrats on getting it dialed in. Excellent images. Based on your post, I understand this is turning into your driveway and also upon leaving.

Are there special settings that you use on the camera? Thank you in advance.
