Not replaying entire clip

Hi, Ive noticed that some of my cameras (i have 8 in total) will only replay a small portion of the recorded clip. For example, I have a camera on my front gate that is triggered if anyone enters. The camera triggers correctly and records around 10 seconds (as I expect) but when I watch the replay it will be much shorter. The screenshot below shows (noticedthe length of the clip is 9 seconds but the replay of it is 2 seconds).

Does anyone know why? Ive had it before and had to delete/add cameras to fix it but I can't get rid of it now
Thanks

Todd

Hi,

I've not come across this issue before, but can you show us an image of the record settings for this camera just in case you have missed something ?

I also note in the image that the status icon is red (the graph with the squiggle on it). Is it showing anything relevant in there ?

Hi Tim, thanks for the quick reply.

Images attached. Ive had it before and got rid of it somehow. Its only affecting one camera at the moment.

Looking into this further - it appears most of my cameras are doing this.

Basicaly a camera is triggered and a video recorded. In the preview window i can clearly see an animal (cat, etc) that triggered it. But when I play the video it starts _after_the cat has disappeared and I notice the video is shorter than the preview says it should be.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Todd.

Ok, I have tracked it down to the option "Direct-to-disc (H.264/5 IP or hardware encoders only)"

enabling this seems to affect how it replays the clips, reducing their length and missing the first 3-5 seconds.

Does anyone else have this issue ?

Todd.

You need to match your IP camera's frame rate to its i-frame interval in each camera's UI, not in Blue Iris. If the cameras frame rate is set to 20 fps, then the i-frame interval should be set to 20.

The I-frame interval configures the number of partial frames (P-Frames & B-Frames) that occur between full frames (I-Frames) in the video stream. By default, many cameras will generate an I-Frame 2-3 times the frame rate. For example, if your cameras frame rate is 20 fps then the default the I-Frame interval would be between 40-60. This means it will generate a full picture frame (I-Frame) every 40 to 60 frames.

When using Direct-to-disk, Blue Iris will always start recording on the next i-frame and not partial frames. This would cause you to miss 2-3 seconds of every triggered motion event recorded. To avoid this, you should always match the I-Frame Interval to the Frame Rate in each cameras UI configuration, not in Blue Iris. In addition, you can set the "Pre-trigger video buffer" to 3 seconds. You can find this settings in Blue Iris camera settings properties -> record tab.

What if my camera Frame Interval will not set beyond 12? What Frame Interval do you recommend for 15fps?

Does your camera's I-frame interval refer to frames or seconds? If it reflects seconds, then I would set it to 1. Since we are talking 1 second and the camera's frame rate is 15 fps, then in effect the I-frame would also reflect 15 frames. If it refers to frames, then it makes no sense that it won't allow you to match the camera's frame rate of 15.

I would post the make and model of your IP camera and screenshot of the camera's configuration screen for Video.

In the camera settings, it has FPS and I Frame Interval as the two fields. FPS can be any number, I Frame Interval is a drop down from 1 - 12. Camera is a FULUVA X-dfq650-4mp-poe x-series. Nothing in their instructions explains anything. The I Frame Interval default is 2.
