server constantly freezing

I've got a BlueIris server that for over a year has run happily, but is now freezing regularly on me. When it stops it literally just freezes - there is nothing happening and I cannot get any response except to cut power and restart. The way it is freezing is more like a driver issue, it is unlikely that a user level app like BI could take down the entire server, it has to be a driver running in a priveleged state. There are no events prior to the freeze.

I've been putting up with the freezing for months because I have been too busy to investigate, and figured that it was either a bad version of BI or a bad version of a driver, and time would heal things. Unfortunately despite many upgrades to both BI, firmware and drivers, things are not healed and it is becoming a bit of an issue.

I don't know when it started, so I can't roll back to a known good. I was hoping that I would have an event showing in eventviewer with some sort of failure, but there is nothing obvious. What suggestions do you have to diagnose the source of this issue?

In the first instance you need to identify if the box has really locked/frozen or if it’s just really slowed down due to lack of resources.

You could spend tens of hours debugging with nothing to show for it in the end or....

Just rebuild from bare metal and OS and start again.

Yeah, probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but I agree with HeneryH. Wipe and reload and call it a day. If you still have issues... You will know its hardware.

I agree with the previous posts, but trying this crash dump analyser won't hurt anything https://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed

Something worth pointing with regards to the original post is that BI does run as an Admin user as you get a UAC prompt when running the GUI and if running as a service you have to specify and account with Admin privs.
